The law office of Julie A. King, PLC provides legal services in all aspects of estate planning, trust and estate administration, probate, fiduciary litigation, tax-exempt organizations and charitable giving.

Mrs. King works with individuals and families in developing estate plans that accomplish both tax and personal goals, including ownership succession issues, the use of limited liability companies (LLCs), family limited partnerships (FLPs) and other techniques to transfer wealth.   She has extensive experience in representing individual and corporate executors and trustees in matters including probate, will contests and other estate disputes, and proceedings to modify and interpret will and trust documents.  She also has extensive experience working with charitable organizations in obtaining federal tax-exempt status and with ongoing compliance issues.

She has taught courses at various continuing education programs for attorneys and CPAs and presented to many bank and corporate trust departments.  She is a frequent speaker to local organizations on general estate planning issues as well as tax-exempt charitable organizations.  She has authored articles in several estate planning publications at both the local and national level.  

She was recently selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2009 and 2010 in the field of Trusts and Estates (Copyright 2009 by Woodward/White, Inc. of Aiken, SC) and was also named a Virginia Super Lawyer Rising Star by Law & Politics Magazine in 2007 and 2008. 

Mrs. King currently serves as Chair on the Board of Governors of the Trusts and Estates Section of the Virginia State Bar and has served on the Legislative Committee and Section Council of the Virginia Bar Association’s Wills, Trusts & Estates Section.

She received a B.A. degree, with honors, from Wake Forest University and a J.D. from the University of Richmond, where she served as a member of the Law Review.  Mrs. King served as law clerk to Chief Justice Harry L. Carrico of the Supreme Court of Virginia.  She is admitted to practice law in Virginia.
